MIAM
MIAM (Mediation Information and Assessment Meeting)
All meetings are conducted online and last up to 1 hour long. They are an opportunity for you to tell your story to the Mediator and for the Mediator to assess if Mediation is suitable for your case. These are one to one meetings.
MIAM's are obligatory for clients wanting to proceed to court or proceed to a joint mediation session. Both parties would need to complete a MIAM before booking a joint session.

Joint Mediation Session
Your first joint session will be 2 hours long and will be held on Zoom unless otherwise specified. This meeting will be with your Accredited Mediator and will be an opportunity to set your agenda and open the conversation on the issues that are important to you. You may need more than one session to resolve the outstanding issues. further sessions can vary in duration between 1 hour and 2 hours. Shuttle Mediation is also available if required. This is whereby the Mediator will shuttle between both parties thus removing any direct contact between the two parties.

Court Forms
Often known as MIAM Certificates. The Mediator can sign your court forms to confirm that you have considered Mediation which is a requirement to make an application to the courts. A MIAM is required first in order to consider the Mediation and enable the Mediator to sign your court form.

Final Documents
Any agreements made in Mediation can be documented for you. For child related cases this document is known as a Parenting Plan. For Finance cases you can receive a Memorandum of Understanding and an Open Financial Summary. These documents would be signed by both parties and can be passed to a solicitor to apply for a consent order or notarised if you wish to make them legally binding.

Child Inclusive Mediation
Child Inclusive Mediation (CIM)will include 3 sessions;
1. Preparation session, this is where the mediator will walk you through the Child Inclusive agreement and gather further information on your child and prepare you for CIM to take place. They will assess if CIM is appropriate to take place at this stage of the mediation.
2. Talking to the Child/Children, The mediator will meet with the Child/Children in a safe and neutral place. This location will be agreed in the preparation session.
3. Feedback, The feedback session is a 1 hour session for the Mediator to feedback from the CIM session.
